Following a successful staff trial over a 3-month period, female-fit trousers are now available to our project staff across Hong Kong sites.
Female-fit trousers do not simply mean a sized-down option. These better-fitting trousers have been developed after carefully reviewing feedback from staff. They are more comfortable to wear, as they are specifically tailored to fit the female body shape which differs from men.

“Universally-sized PPE, which is typical across the engineering and construction industries in the Asian region, is not suitable for females and presents both sizing and fit difficulties. It’s great to see our company taking a lead on this and making change to better the work environment for females,” said Diana Hutchison, member of WOICE – Women in Construction and Engineering Focus Group - in Hong Kong who has been driving this initiative.
“We have a more diverse workforce than ever, and we are committed to increasing the numbers of women working in construction. Providing female-fit personal protective equipment is one of the initiatives to ensure we provide a working environment where everyone feels safe, confident and welcome to work,” said Brad Davey, Leighton Asia Managing Director.
Looking ahead, we will continue to work closely with our people to broaden the range of PPE that is designed specifically for women and roll it out to our other operating regions in Asia.
