Leighton Asia’s Women in Construction and Engineering Group (WOICE) and the Institution of Civil Engineers, Hong Kong Association (ICE HKA) co-organised a technical visit to our Boardwalk Underneath Island Eastern Corridor (the Boardwalk) project in North Point, Hong Kong.
During the visit, our project team shared the methods of repairing the existing pilecap, the innovative technologies adopted to enhance construction safety, their learnings on lifting, quality check and logistics of the prefabricated bridge segments, and how they overcame the challenges in marine piling in this mega project.
Participants had the opportunity to have a closer look of the large diameter bored pile, pre-bored socketed H-pile and the bridge segments.
Upon completion, the Boardwalk connecting Fortress Hill and Quarry Bay will provide a promenade of approximately 2.2km along Hong Kong’s famous and stunning harbourfront for public enjoyment.
